Bountiful Fall Colors at Home

Updated: Dec 28, 2020

When the weather cooled down after September's heat wave, we said farewell to our spring annuals and even some perennials to make way for our fall plantings. We went to our favorite garden center, Green Thumb Nursery, and selected a variety of plants: two different types of coleus, a couple of marigold plants, and a few autumn-hued pansies, ornamental cabbage and kale, among others. To that we added a variety of stackable pumpkins for our front entrance and ornamental pepper to accompany what had become thriving home-grown lettuce plants.

Planting in the fall had a different energy than in the spring - not better or worse, just different. It came with the realization that Home was going to likely be the new normal through the end of 2020. Regardless, it brought the same pleasure of watching life evolve and grow right in front of our eyes.
